Mary Katherine Mitchell Sampson

October 1, 1964-May 19, 2023

Mary Katherine Mitchell Sampson, 58, of Mechanicsville VA transitioned from this life on Friday, May 19, 2023, after fighting an almost 2-year battle with cancer. She was born October 1, 1964, at Richmond Memorial Hospital to David Mitchell Sr. and the late Diane Mitchell.

Mary spent her life living it to the fullest. She loved spending time with her daughters and spending the weekends at the river, with her best and closest friends. Along with being a retired motorcycle enthusiast, she enjoyed fishing, dancing, listening to live bands, reading, and recently picked up a love for crafting.

She is survived by her daughters, Dawn Stultz (Mark Booker), and Stevi Tant; her granddaughters Jocelyn Hegamyer, Chelsey Carter, and Laila Welch; her brothers, David Mitchell jr (Teresa Mitchell) and Tommy Mitchell, and sister Patricia Decheubel (darrell decheubel); her nieces and nephews – Joy N. (Matt) Laurae L. (Davis) John M. Austin D. and Courtney D.; and her loving boyfriend who stayed with her until the end, Wayne Bishop.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at the Richmond East Moose Lodge in Mechanicsville on July 8 from 4 PM to 8 PM.

Mary was the first person at the moose to come over and talked to me . She was the first to invite me to her place at the river. She always told you the truth about how she felt and I appreciated that about her . I will miss her so much. Her openness and smile will always be remembered in my heart.
