Mary L Jasinski

February 28, 1938 – September 1, 2022

Mary Lou Jasinski, most recently of Sunrise Tuckahoe Assisted Living in Richmond, Virginia, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022. She was 84 years old.

Mary was born February 28, 1938, in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  She was the daughter of Francis and Elizabeth Wiles, and older sister to Virginia. Mary grew up in Roselle, N.J., and was a high school graduate of nearby Benedictine Academy.  She furthered her education by attending the executive secretarial program at the prestigious Katherine Gibbs School in Montclair.

Mary met Edward Jasinski in 1956. They wed in June 1957 and were married for 65 years. They first lived in Roselle before purchasing a home in Clark, N.J, where they raised four children, Wayne, Carolyn, Nancy, and Edward (Ted).  Mary and Ed lived on Oak Ridge Road until 2009, when they moved to Kingwood, Texas.

Mary was a loving mom who enjoyed volunteering for many different non-profit organizations while working part-time at home as a substitute teacher coordinator for the Union County Regional School District.  Following her youngest child Ted’s graduation from high school, she returned to the full-time work force as an administrator for Verizon. Mary enjoyed travel, attending the opera in the New York City area, and watching classic movies, Jeopardy, and baseball, in particular the Yankees and Astros. Over the years, she did volunteer work for the Saint Agnes Roman Catholic Church, including the Rosary-Altar Society and serving communion to shut-ins.

Surviving Mary is her beloved husband, Edward; children and their spouses, Wayne and Cheryl Jasinski, Carolyn and Gary Gildersleeve, Nancy and Thomas Marian, and Ted and Kristine Jasinski; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia and her husband Lou.

In honor of the loving care provided to Mary by the Henrico Doctor’s Hospital (Richmond, VA) nursing staff, the family requests family and friends send memorial gift donations to the American Nurses Foundation (American Nurses Foundation, PO Box 504342, Saint Louis, MO 63150 www.nursingworld.org/foundation/donate/ ).
