Mary Van Swearingen
Feb. 18, 1962 – Aug. 8, 2020
Mary VanSwearingen, 58, known to her family and friends with great love as, “Dee”, passed away prematurely on August 8, 2020.
While miles and circumstances separated her from so many who loved her, she was and will remain in our hearts and memories.
Always a protector and defender of those she loved, she never allowed anyone to mistreat others if she was witness to injustice.
She brought joy to her nieces and nephews and will fondly be remembered as Aunt Deedle. She would give them anything in her power to bring a smile or fill a need.
Her laughter was infectious and her kindness far-reaching and boundless. No one was exempt from her smile.
She loved animals, most notably Payne and Jake, her black labs and her cat, Mouse.
Dee left this world with her husband of 30 years, Joseph B. VanSwearingen, III by her side.
Additionally, she is survived by her sisters, Teri Schell (Dave)and Kim Cowett, (Al), and brother Christopher Overlees, 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 1 great-niece and 4 great-nephews.
There will be a private family memorial service in the future.
Out of Dee’s love for animals, memorials made be made to the Richmond SPCA to provide for animals in need or charities of your choice providing for children in need.
Terry and family I am so sorry for your loss. i miss her already.
Loved working with her over the years.
May Jesus Christ, the resurrection and the life give you comfort .
