Fair winds and Following seas, shipmate. We have the watch.
Mike grew up on a dairy farm in Onondaga, Michigan and was a true cowboy before he joined the military. If you knew Mike, you knew he had a wonderful sense of humor, he loved to whistle while he worked, and his favorite saying was “Holy Cats”. Mike had a great passion for farming, tractors, and history. He liked to work with his hands, he enjoyed working on anything in the garage, around the house, riding his John Deer Tractor, gardening, going to the movies and exploring museums. Mike loved his animals, waiting for him in heaven at the rainbow bridge are his various dogs and cats; Sue Bear, Princess, Lucas, Sam, Skeeter, Dutch, Gunny, Patches, Jamie, Tuffy, Mr. Bean, Whitty, Boo Boo and Cricket. Above all else, he loved his family deeply.
He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Asif of Lakeville, MN; his daughter, Elizabeth Beverly of Midlothian, VA; his granddaughter Sabrina Asif; his granddaughter Angel Beverly; his granddaughter Sarah Asif; his sister Mary Quick of Temple Terrace, FL; several family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Cousins and his sister Deborah Miller.
We love you, may your soul rest in peace.
In lieu of Flowers or Donations, the family requests you spend precious time with your loved ones, visit a museum and share your adventure in Mike’s guest book. One of Mike’s favorite museums to visit is the National Museum of the Marine Corps located next to his final resting place at the Quantico National Cemetery.
Michael will forever be missed, he touched so many people in his life with love and joy! May you rest in peace -I will see you in Heaven big brother-love you !
I love you Uncle Mike, you will be greatly missed. Please give my Mama a big hug from me
I never lived close enough to Mike to see him regularly, but Deobrah & I were able to visit several times over the years. Although he could come across as gruff, I know that underneath he had a soft & caring heart. Deborah & I spent our first Thanksgiving as a couple (1975) with him in (I think) the extreme west of Minnesota. It was a nice drive going out there, but we drove thru a big snowstorm coming home to Michigan.
Gonna miss you Uncle Mike, Dad has his brother back! Thank you for your service and all you did for the family🤗❤
Rest in piece Uncle Mike, you will be missed. Sending thoughts and prayers to the family.
