I knew Nelson when we were both students at Bridgewater College in the early 1060s – he was always a lot of fun. I knew he grew up on Route5 near Henrico County/ Charles City line
Will there be a Memorial service? Did he reamin single ?- Any family?

I first meet Nelson in 1987 and we became fast friends. In the beginning Nelson, Stuart, John, Gene and myself would Charter a boat called Sweet Pea and fish the Chesapeake Bay. We all had a blast and we all became friend. He was such a likable guy and was mostly playful and yet could be serious both at the same time. On these trips he was playful and clowning and we all loved it, that John (the organizer) planed these trips yearly for about six years! Thank you John, for these are memories we will cherish forever! This was the beginnings of many adventures with Nelson, and our trips took us from NY to Atlanta! Several trips to NC, MD, Ohio and many throughout the state of Va., as he had a hard time saying “NO”. He was a “YES” person and ALWAYS seemed to think of other first and would offer his help hand with nearly all endeavors! From cutting down trees to helping set up an RV, he was there. A true friend and confidant that will always be loved and in his passing, will be missed. Hats off to you my friend and we shall meet again. With Love and Gratitude, Lloyd
My Friend Nelson, I have many fond memories over the last 30+ years. Just one of many memories, one of my Best is that he was our Best Man at our Wedding (Larry & Joyce) 9/16/2012. He enjoyed the trip to Sylvan Height Bird Park in Scotland Neck, N.C. near our home 2018.
We alway stayed in touch on the phone & I will miss calling him in Charles City, & like Billy Graham, Nelson has a new address & I will enjoying seeing when I’m Called.

Farewell Good friend. You’ll be missed.
John
If it were not for Nelson, I would not be clean and sober today. There is not enough time to tell all the ways in which he helped, but I’ll say that 11th hour would not exist today if it were not for him. Nelson, in a very real way, saved my life and (I’m sure) the lives of many other people. He’s definitely missed. Thank you Nelson, for everything.
The whole 11th Hour crew appreciates what Nelson did for this world, and I’m a product of what he put into it.
