Obituary message
Norma Katherine Hansen (Moore) Lauzon, 83, of White Stone, VA, departed this life on August 25, 2016 .
Akin to her full breed Norwegian roots, Norma was proud of her heritage, very strong willed, private about her own affairs, loving and caring more for others than herself, independent minded, volunteered her strong opinion about most things, and often stubborn.
She loved gardening and the outdoors, and especially loved being on or near any body of water, particularly the ocean. When traveling to the shore she would always announce the moment she could smell the sea.
Norma also loved to cook and entertain and have many people around her. For years in Great Falls, VA she hosted a Christmas Eve party that all her neighbors would attend lifting their glasses for many skåls until wee hours of the night, sometimes delaying a visit from Julenissen (Norwegian Santa Claus). Later it was Norma’s and Vinnie’s parties on Lake Lackawanna in northern New Jersey, and finally on her huge deck overlooking Tabb’s Creek in White Stone, VA where family and friends gathered annually to watch 4th of July fireworks, always with lots of great food, stories and laughter.
Norma was preceded in death by her second husband K. Vincent Lauzon and her first child Clifford Douglas Moore, III. Surviving are her other three children Scott Moore, Bradford Moore and Dawn Moore Cook, her four grandchildren Martina Cook, Kirsten Moore, Clayton Cook and Cameron Moore, her sister Marilyn Hansen, and her first husband C. Douglas Moore, Jr. Additionally there are cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends that will all miss her dearly.
The family requests anyone who may have a fond memory or story to share about Norma to please send it in written, audio or video format to [email protected].
A memorial service will be held Friday September 23rd at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, 1800 Lakeside Avenue, Richmond VA at 1pm.
