Our beloved Paquita Lopez entered into God’s Kingdom on Monday, September 18, 2023, at age 78 after a short battle with Leukemia.

Paquita was born to Secundino and Maria Hernandez on March 17, 1945 in Camuy, Puerto Rico. As a child, Paquita loved to garden, craft, and sew. When she was 13 she was born again at the Missionary Pentecostal Church of God in Lakewood, NJ. She loved serving God, her natural family, and her church family, and sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible.

Paquita met her husband of many years, Edwardo Lopez through friends at church. They married on June 12, 1965, and went on to have one child, Ruth Cruz. Paquita raised Ruth with patience, love, and the fear of the Lord.

Paquita is survived by her daughter Ruth Cruz; her grandchildren Danielle Johnson, Jason Johnson, Jessica Cruz, Anthony Cruz, and Alex Cruz; her great-grandchildren Denzel Johnson, Tatyana Johnson, and Joshua Johnson; and her sisters Mary Cuevas, Lisa Roldan, Elba Perez, Chela Hernandez, Nancy Cotte, and Virginia Roldan. She is preceded in death by her parents and her ex-husband Edwardo.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 7 at 1668 South Sycamore Street Petersburg Virginia.

Psalm 23 – Passion Translation

Yahweh is my best friend and my shepherd.
I always have more than enough.
He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love.
His tracks take me to an oasis of peace near the quiet brook of bliss.
That’s where he restores and revives my life.
He opens before me the right path
and leads me along in his footsteps of righteousness
so that I can bring honor to his name.
Even when your path takes me through
the valley of deepest darkness,
fear will never conquer me, for you already have!
Your authority is my strength and my peace.
The comfort of your love takes away my fear.
I’ll never be lonely, for you are near.
You become my delicious feast
even when my enemies dare to fight.
You anoint me with the fragrance of your Holy Spirit;
you give me all I can drink of you until my cup overflows.
So why would I fear the future?
Only goodness and tender love pursue me all the days of my life.
Then afterward, when my life is through,
I’ll return to your glorious presence to be forever with you!
