Paulette Ann Floyd
Oct. 31, 1946 – July 26, 2021
Paulette Ann Floyd (Young), age 74, of Midlothian, VA, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born on October 31, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a 1964 graduate of Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, PA, and she received her B.A. from Bennett College in Greensboro, NC, graduating in 1968.
Paulette was loved and cherished by many people including her loving husband of 52 years and 11 months, Alvin Floyd. As a devoted and loving mother, she is survived by her eldest son Damon Floyd (Teresa Floyd) of Winchester, VA; youngest son Devin Floyd (Carrie Floyd) of Midlothian, VA; and her daughter Dena Floyd of Cary, NC. She is also an amazing “G” (grandmother) to four handsome boys, Xavier Floyd, Trevor Floyd, Isaac Floyd, and Jase Floyd-Miller.
Paulette genuinely cared about others, often giving her time, love, and advice to those she encountered. She was also an animal lover, as she cared for many pets and grand-pets over the years.
Paulette adored maintaining healthy loving relationships with her neighbors, community, friends, and family. For all who are connected with Paulette, we will hold a celebration of life memorial service. Her family will provide the date, time, and location in the near future.

To the family, I talked to Paulette when she called to give her condolences on the loss of my husband. We talked and laughed and reminisced for 1 1/2 hours. She said she was good and we would talk again. When Victor called I was shocked. She was always looking out for others. I will miss my cousin. Remember John 5-28 & 29. Alvin, Damon, Devin, and Dena,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have so many many wonderful memories spending time at the houses in Walton Park and Queensmill. She was a wonderful lady and taught me the importance of sweeping the kitchen floor every evening! If you need anything, do not hesitate to ask.
Dena
I am truly sorry for your loss. My love and thoughts are with you in this time of mourning. I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet your mother, Mrs Paulette Floyd. I see her light in you.
I’m so sorry for your loss! She clearly left her mark on the world in many ways, including through her family and the children and grandchildren children she helped raise.
Sending my deepest sympathy on such a tremendous loss. I did not have a chance to meet your mother, but I have been blessed to know Dena and Jase. A mother’s pride has no measure that is greater than that of her children. Dena is a thoughtful, intelligent, compassionate, and powerful person. Jase is a fountain of joy! I know that you must have amazing parents to help create such wonderful people. Your mom must have been so proud of you. Her love and joy will live on through you!
Dena,
Although the last time I saw your mother was when I was very young – I remember distinctly how sweet she was to me. I remember being a just 9 or 10 years old, and your mother (and father) always being some of the few adults who were kind enough to speak to me like I was an adult and show genuine interest in my school work and interests. Likely, your parents never knew the impact of their kindness, but it stuck with me, 20 years later.
It is not lost on me that the thoughtfulness and increíble mother that you are is a glowing reflection of the love your mother gave to you. May her spirit continue to shine through your father, their children and grandchildren.
I wish you love and comfort during these trying times; but always know that just because she is gone physically does not mean she doesn’t continue to live in your heart.
Alvin and family we are so sorry to hear about Paulette’s passing. Words cannot express. She was a wonderful person who I know will be greatly missed by those who knew her.. We will cherish our memories of beach vacations with your family. Sending prayers and condolences to you all.
It was such a blessing meeting your mom my freshman year at Florida. So caring, kind, funny, and just full of life! She always checked on me and made sure everything was going ok. D, I’m sorry you lost your mom. She and your family will be in my prayers.
I love you muchisimo!
I am so blessed to have known such a wonderful lady. She will be missed by all of her Maryland/Antiguan family. I am praying for you all. Thanks Aunt Paulette for all of the smiles you shared with me and the family.
Holding all of you in my heart.
Dear Alvin & Family,
Ronnie and I were so devastated to hear about the loss of our dear and thoughtful cousin Paulette. We will certainly miss her as we convene after two years at the Flowers, Hall, Gyant Family reunion in July 2022. Her smiling presence and spirit will forever be a lasting reflection on the family as we move forward during these uncertain times. May God continue to lift you up as you grieve the loss of your beloved Paulette.
Paulette and Alvin were our neighbors in the “cul-de-sac” for 32 years. When we moved, Paulette called me and we talked for at least an hour promising to stay in touch. Sadly, that was the last time I spoke with her. So many memories with the kids, dogs, and cats! She helped me immensly with some very good advice when I was struggling with my mother’s care. I miss our meet ups on the road, where we shared news of the famlies. She was more than proud of her children and grandchildren.
Our condolences to the Floyd family.
Paulette was such a warm and inviting spirit full of wisdom. She was my Senior Worker at Chesterfield DSS. I loved working with her and enjoyed many Friday lunches at the local Chinese Buffet. I also had the pleasure of seeing her on a couple of bus trips to Maryland Live after her retirement. She was so happy! Please accept my condolences and know that my prayers are with your entire family.
Paulette and I loved to play practical jokes on one another. We laughed often and shared so much. My time with her at Chesterfield-Colonial Heights DSS was special. I admired her as both a friend and a co-worker. She exuded class and sophistication. She loved her family very much and spoke of you often, with a big smile on her face. I am thinking of you all, and smiling while I think of my memories of her.
I had the pleasure of working with Paulette years ago at Chesterfield DSS. She always made me laugh and was such a good sport when I played practical jokes on her. My sincere condolences go out to her family.

Dear Alvin and Family, our Bennett sisterhood chain has once again been broken. As we strive to live our best lives on this side of senior life, we will treasure our memories of the ” good ole days” at Bennett with Paulette. My love goes out to my “homeboy” Alvin and your family. May God’s blessing shine upon you and give you peace. …Carolyn Peace Smith, class of 1968
What a special friend Paulette was growing up. We were friends since grade school and attended high school together. We would spend hours talking and planning our futures. We had all girl dance parties in my mother’s basement and listen to music for hours. We also would have lunch at each other’s homes. I have not seen or her from Paulette since I graduated high school and headed to college.
What a wonderful and beautiful spirit she was during our time together.
I know that she isn’t in any more pain and sitting with our Lord Jesus.
To the family I am sorry for your loss. May God continue to watch over you and give you peace.
Our condolences extend to the Floyd family. Paulette was a wonderful person and she will be missed. Our prayers for you, her family, is to remember the good times you all shared together, as you face this sad time.
