In Loving

Philip D. Gregory

September 29, 1953 – January 16, 2024

Philip D Gregory, 70, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away in his home the morning of January 16, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elmo and Florence Gregory.

Philip is survived by his wife Kay; four children, Matthew (Mariah), Jared, Eric, and Aaron; granddaughter, Norayah; his two brothers, Stephen (Cory) and David (Peggy); brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Belinda Isbell; nieces, Jeanette, April, Rachel, and Nicki; nephew, Lukas; and great-nephews, Colton, Gavin, Avery, Sawyer and Korben; along with family in England and North Carolina.

Philip was born in England, moved to Goldsboro, North Carolina at a young age, and eventually to Richmond, Virginia after meeting Kay, to whom he was married to for 34 years.  He always kept busy and had many neat hobbies that included catering Carolina-style barbeque at fairs and festivals and traveling across the world for leisure and missionary work.  His various occupations included but were not limited to working as a waterman, running a seafood business, and general contracting.  Philip’s talent for building coupled with his desire to spread the Word of our Lord led him to Alaska, Arizona, and Cuba, among other places, where he assisted in the building of churches and other missionary projects.  Philip loved the outdoors. He also loved to unwind at Glebe Point Campground with his family and friends where you could find him throughout most of the spring, summer, and fall fishing, gardening, storytelling, and enjoying his time by the water.  Philip’s calling led him to be ordained and became the Pastor of the Campground Church just a few years ago.

Family and friends will gather for a visitation at Affinity Funeral Service located at 2720 Enterprise Parkway, Richmond, Virginia 23294 on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM followed by his Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM.  Following the service all are invited to a celebration cookout at Aaron’s home.
