Phyllis Ebbert Martin

June 30, 1942 – April 29, 2024

In loving memory of, Phyllis Ebbert Martin, who passed away on April 29, 2024. She was a kind and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity, and was a source of inspiration, strength, and love for all that knew her. 

Phyllis retired from the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services in 2007, where she earned numerous awards of recognition for teamwork and outstanding performance. Phyllis’ passion was preparing meals for family and friends, taking vacations in the mountains of Tennessee, and spending quiet afternoons on her front porch. 

Phyllis was predeceased by her father, John L Ebbert; and her mother, Clara S. and husband, Clate (Clayton) Martin. 

Phyllis is survived by her brother, John L. Ebbert Jr. (Linda); sister, Nancy E King (Tim); son, Michael Sadler (Paula); daughters, Kim Branco (Jeff), Robin Parson (Mike) and Susan Martin. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Alisha Dash (Jason), Brooke Stone (David), Amber Broaddus (Steve), Jennifer Gunn, Erika George (Benjamin), Ashley Parson, Nick Gunn (Caitlin), and William McGee; 13 great-grandchildren, Darius Parson, Rayne and Gunner Owens, Hayden Stone, Max Dash, Benjamin George, Gwendolyn Gunn, Parker George, Everest Gunn, SJ Broaddus, Owen George, Isabella Broaddus, and Alden Gunn; and her beloved dog, Coco.

The celebration of life will be held at her home at 11800 Second Branch Road, Chesterfield, VA on May 11, 2024, at 2 p.m. Immediately following the ceremony the family are inviting guests to join them for a cookout. Family members are requesting memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
