Queen E. McCoy, 72 of Richmond VA passed away on June 7, 2020 at MCV Medical Center.
Queen Esther McCoy born to William and Lillie Mae Whitehead in Brooklyn NY, March 10, 1948. The youngest of seven, the Whitehead family moved to Queens NY where she graduated from John Adam’s High School. She worked as a cook while attending nursing school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and then worked with disabled youth at Bernard Fineson. She retired in 1994 after the passing of her long time love and soulmate Robert (Mack) Ponder Jr.
Queen was an active member of ‘United Holiness C.O.G.I.C’ in Brooklyn NY in the 70’s and 80’s. Later joining ‘The Holy House of Prayer for All People’ in the early 2000’s. While in Virginia she attended services at Everlasting Spirit Ministries International and Spiritual United African Nation House of Worship.
A loving mother and grandmother she leaves to mourn, one son Donovan Sr.; daughter in-law Ramona Pankey-McCoy; six grandchildren Cheyenne, Jazmin, Dyonna, Donovan Jr, Dakota and Dallas; and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and very close friends.
Memorial service will be announced at a later date in New York. Internment will follow at Mt Zion Church Cemetery in Garfield Georgia.
