ALEXANDER, Richard John, 71, of Montpelier passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019. Rick had a zest for life and was always pursuing new hobbies. He could speak engagingly on a wide variety of topics from his experiences with kayaking, canoeing, camping, racing pigeons, beekeeping, woodworking, and radio-controlled planes. Rick also enjoyed cooking, barbequing, and researching the latest kitchen gadgets to help with food preparation. He loved to see young people succeed and always encouraged good choices, from giving a friend’s son in auto mechanic school his tools to supporting his daughter, Kristen Alexander, while she graduated from law school. Rick loved his family and they were his “happy place” followed by a cold ginger ale, as the runner up. His grandson, Tristan, was the light of his life and he was always sure to say how proud he was of “what a good boy he is”. He was married for 44 years to his wife, Linda Alexander, who he always said he “loved since the first moment he laid eyes on her”. Rick loved to tell stories about the old days and one of his favorites was telling how he saved her life on their first date when she stepped off the curb in front of a car and he pulled her back. He has been watching over her and his family ever since. He was a great provider and a good man, and he will be deeply missed by all those he left behind. A celebration of life will be held at 4 pm Saturday, March 23rd at Glen Allen Church of Christ.
Richard John AlexandI am so sorry to hear of Richard’s passing. I will miss his smile and his always good natured humor. It is hard to believe he will not be with us, but I know that he left loving memories and a wonderful family behind. Unfortunately I will be out of town and not able to celebrate his celebration of life. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Sam Kourier
