Richard Thomas Colley
March 18, 1938 – November 4, 2023
Richard Thomas Colley, 85, of Chesterfield County, went to be with the love of his life, Maxine, on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Sadler and Thaddeus Colley; and his sister, Carole Johnson. He is survived by his children, Keith Colley, Frank Giardina (Carolyn), Brian Snipes (Laverne), and Sandy Snipes; and sisters Jo Ann Mulligan (Craig) and Jane Brittingham.
Tom was a multi-talented man who became a self-taught taxidermist for much of his life and by mastering that trade, he allowed many hunters and fishermen to be able to retain the joy of their success. Tom could cook up a storm and his family will never forget his deep-fried Thanksgiving turkey. He also taught himself how to play the fiddle, it was second nature, and he and the Blue Grass Clippers even cut an album but decided that family was more important than fame. Tom was a proud Marine and also enjoyed painting and was a consummate fisherman, he loved fishing with every bone in his body and loved sharing that with his wife and kids., especially fishing for bass and frying up his catch of the day. He won numerous tournaments through the years and was one of the best. GTN!
Tom will surely be missed, but we all know that he is now where he wanted and needed to be.
A memorial service will be held from 3 – 7 p.m. on Friday, November 17, at Bennett Funeral Home, Chesterfield (Winterpock) location.
