When I first met Rob around 2006, I was managing WHRE channel 21 (20 on Cable) in Norfolk. Rob was the Public Relations Director for The American Red Cross in Southeastern Virginia.
I interviewed Rob for our Public Affairs show many times. One time during a break, Rob asked me to make a slight correction to one of my statements. After that, he made a joke, and then I made a counter joke, and soon we were both in stitches. We could barely finish the interview without bursting out laughing. This was the beginning of a very close friendship.
My wife, Dianne, & I are praying for Chris, Deborah, Max and the entire family.

When I first met Rob, I was the Public Affairs Coordinator for WHRE TV channel 20. At that time I was still learning my new assign job and was very self conscious about not doing well. What I remember most about Rob was how patient and kind he was, when I was working with him on questions to ask for (Joy In Our Town ) segment. His gentle smile always made me feel at ease. He will be dearly miss, I will keep his family in my prayers
Rob was a wonderful co-worker with me at The American Red Cross of Southeastern Virginia for many years. But more importantly, he was my dear friend for many more years. I will miss his positive, thoughtful input when I talked to him about problems, and his wonderful sense of humor. Rob had such a zest for life and whenever you were around him, you just felt better. Always helpful, compassionate and kind, Rob was truly a special person and friend who will be greatly missed.
Unfortunately, I am just today finding out about Rob from our friend George Lundby. I’m dumbstruck having not heard about this prior to today and am heartbroken about his passing. The comments from the media contacts above are testaments to how he worked as a PR person (although he was a Journalist at heart). I will miss Rob’s humorous antics and his lofty plans for bettering everything he contacted. He loved Norfolk, he loved his family, he loved to laugh, and he loved living. Of my friend I will say that I’ll miss our lively lunches and our spirited phone conversations and email exchanges about the state of public discourse. He was a good man, and a good friend to me and my wife. Blessed repose, Rob, and eternal memory.
I am wondering if this is the husband of Debbie Cohen who lived in Buffalo, NY.
