Tooey, I was so very sorry to hear about the death of, your husband. I knew he had been ill for quite awhile but your many photos always seemed like he was doing quite well. I extend my deepest condolences to you and your family. Fondly, Sandra Marshall
One of the nicest, most competent, humblest, and highly respected people to have been involved in the National Shellfish Sanitation Program. First dealt with him during the 1980s as he was being instrumental in getting a new shellfish growing area sampling approach through the Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference. When people are really good at what they do they don’t have to tell you. You already know. Bob was humble. But we knew. Goodspeed Bob.
John Veazey, US Food and Drug Administration
I first met Bob in the 1980’s when Virginia hosted the Interstate Seafood Seminar. He was very knowledgeable and a great mix of both scientist and public health official. Since that time, I always valued his opinion on matters of public health. Bob was well respected locally and nationally in his field and he was a leader in the National Shellfish Sanitation Program. Most importantly, he was a really nice person to be around – a good listener who was always open to other’s ideas. Bob was one of a kind who will be missed by all of us who worked with him over the years. Truly a life well lived.
Bob Connell, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (retired)
Grace, I was so sorry to read of Bob’s passing. I loved talking to him while your repairs were being done on your home. I loved getting to know you both at both gooChland Animal Clinic as well as Sermat.
I express my sympathy to the entire Croonenberghs family in the passing of Bob. I was privileged to know Bob and get to collobrate with him while I was working at the VA Departments of Conservation and Recreation and Environmental Quality. He was a gentle giant and was always helpful and provided good insights and guidance in working on water quality issues related to shellfish impaired waters in coastal Virginia. I always enjoyed running in to him downtown during our lunch breaks and having a chance to say hello.
Charlie Lunsford (retired)
Bob and I worked at VDH for many years. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. I am thankful for the times we could share together.
May the Lord bless your family during this time of loss.
Grace, Sending loving thoughts your way. Karen
