Robert Leroy Banner

May 15, 1987 – Dec. 07, 2021

Robert Leroy Banner was born on May 15, 1987, and raised in Richmond, Virginia. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and continued his studies at J. Sargent Community College pursuing his studies in horticultural science. Robert had his own Facebook page called “Robert’s Garden” where people could learn about and purchase organic herbs and vegetables that he grew in raised beds seasonally. He enjoyed learning about plants and would share the best ways to stay healthy by eating right. This passion led him to pursue and obtain a position at gLeaf Medical which he loved.

Robert was a ball of light to everyone! He was always personable, charismatic, and thoughtful. He enjoyed a great party, nature, traveling, holidays, spending time with loved ones and his cat Amir. He was proud that he participated in the protests in RVA last year, finished two marathons, had the best mac & cheese recipe, and homemade salads from things he grew with his green thumb.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Loretta Coleman; two sisters, Latonya & Tomeka; Aunt, Lucette Goodwyn; immediate cousins, Christina, Betrina & Ronald; nephew, Terrance; and a host of other relatives & close friends.  Robert went home to be with the Lord on December 7, 2021. He will truly be missed by all.

Any donations can be made in Robert’s name to Tricycle Gardens or Legacy Farms (Click here to Donate) – both are nonprofit urban gardening organizations in Richmond, Virginia.

Those special memories of you will always bring a smile if only I could have you back for just a little while. Then we could sit and talk again just like we used to do you always meant so very much and always will do too. The fact that you re no longer here will always cause me pain but you’re forever in my heart until we meet again

It was indeed an honor and privilege to get to know Robert. Even more so, after I witnessed him mature into a kind young man and triumph in life This was a heart shocker and I offer my sincere condolences to the family. I will miss his sudden call for food and to tell me about his awesome plants and the cat. He will truly be missed. Grief is the price we pay for love and is worth it a million times over. Rest easy my friend and thanks for sharing your heart when I needed it the most.
