Rose Marie Morris Stamm
December 9, 1945 – February 2, 2023
Rose Marie Morris Stamm of Henrico, VA passed away at age 77 on Thursday, February 2, 2023 after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Her life ended peacefully, with her children, grandchildren and husband by her side, surrounding her with love.
Rose was born in Port Royal, SC on December 9, 1945 to Julius and Kathryn Morris. She had red hair, green eyes, and a southern accent. She met her beloved husband Fred Stamm III at a dance in Charleston. After a whirlwind romance, the pair eloped on January 28, 1965 before Fred shipped out for a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy. They went on to enjoy 58 happy years of marriage which brought them two daughters and six grandchildren.
The couple relocated to Virginia in 1966. After several years in the Northern Neck, where they welcomed their daughters Kimberly and Katie, the family moved to the Richmond area. Rose worked as a beautician before buying a typewriter and training herself as a secretary. She began her decades-long career as an executive secretary at Best Products, before retiring with CarMax.
Rose adored her family and wore the title of “Ma Ma” proudly. She was happiest spending life’s moments and milestones with her loved ones – celebrating holidays, going on trips and attending graduations, performances and sports games for her grandkids. Rose also loved shopping and being near the water. She considered the beach her happy place. She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many.
She was preceeded in death by both of her parents; and siblings JW, Charles, Robert and Patricia. She is survived by her husband; her daughters Kimberly (Roger) and Katie (Mike); grandchildren Kaitlyn (Donnie), Kendall, Savannah, Jamie, Kasey and Sydney Rose.
There will not be a funeral service. Instead, the family is planning to hold a celebration of life for Rose in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (ocrahope.org) are appreciated.
With deepest sympathy to Fred and your family. May Rose Rest In Peace.
Love,
Ann Marie and Jim

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Rose for years at CarMax. She was such a bright light and everyone who knew her knew how much she loved Fred and her family. We loved to talk about buying a jet to fly to PA faster to see our families. Sending love to her family and friends.
Heaven truly gained an Angel the day we lost Rose. I enjoyed seeing her smiling face each day when I arrived at CarMax for work. During our many conversations we discovered my daughter was friends with her granddaughter. Rose’s family meant the world to her. I am so sorry for the loss of such an incredible lady. She will be missed beyond words by many.
Rose will truly be missed. I enjoyed seeing her at CarMax. She was kind, spunky and we shared the same birthday. Sending my deepest sympathy to her family and friends.
“Mrs Stamm” as I called her left a big mark on my life. Although I only knew her for about a year, I feel like I learned so much about her. She ALWAYS talked about her daughters and her grandchildren with me. She showed me pictures of each of them and telling me how proud she was of what they were “up to now”. And I can’t say enough about how she spoke of Fred. I never met Fred but I feel like I have known him a lifetime through her stories. But as much as we talked about her loved family, she ALWAYS took the time to stop and ask me about mine. She was kind. She was sincere . Most of us could take a page from Rose’s book. All that she was going through and she would stop in to check on me after I lost my Dad. She reached out to help others. She offered her time. I just want her family to REALLY KNOW that she loved you all so much. I know she loved being “Ma Ma”. My sincerest condolences to you all. I will miss her.
