Obituary message

Sallyanne Kohler, 73, of Powhatan passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Chippenham Hospital.

Sallyanne was a wonderful Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She was the most selfless person one could ever know. She knew all the right words to ease whatever you were going through.

Sallyanne was one who always had an inviting energy and warm-hearted presence about her, no matter who you talked to. Immediate family, friends or acquaintances, she was always loved. She always had a vision, she could take a blank canvas and turn it into a work of art, especially with her gardening which was her favorite place to be! It was always a warm welcome and pleasant feeling pulling into her driveway to see her garden in bloom and articulately planted giving color and life to the yard through all the seasons.

Not only was Sallyanne a mother to five, but also a Grandmother to 10, and most recently a great Grandmother to one. She would individually make each and everyone feel important, never missing a holiday or birthday sending her infamous heartwarming cards, which became tradition, constantly reminding us that we were loved. She was a very spiritual woman, who could name every saint off the top of her head. She would spend hours praying for everyone in the family, endlessly hoping that we all find our paths to peace and reminding us to give it up to God.

It will be impossible to forget that smile, that smile that warmed any room she was in and that laugh that would instantly put a smile on anyone’s face. Our father may have shaped our hands, but our mother forever shaped our hearts. She is survived by her husband William Kohler of 55 years, her five children, William Kohler, Kerri Flood, Kevin Kohler, Kimberly Ruisi and Courtney Crivaro; along with her 10 grandchildren, Billy Kohler, Robert Kohler, Cody Kohler, Caitlin Kohler, Kevin Kohler, Alyssa Ruisi James Ruisi, Gia Ruisi, Frank Crivaro, Kevin Crivaro and just recently her first great-grandchild, Emilie Kohler. She will be forever missed and always in our hearts.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2480 Batterson Road, Powhatan, VA 23139.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 am Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the church. Interment will be private.
