Sam Sylvester Simpson
July 1, 1950 – May 6, 2023
Sam Sylvester Simpson, 73, of Louisa County passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Richmond, Virginia he was the son of the late, Sam T. Simpson Jr. and Dorothy Odell Simpson. Sam is survived by his wife, Diana; three sons, Sam Curtis (Crystal), Chan (Crystal), and Charles (Laura); and three grandsons, David, Zachary, and Oliver.
Sam was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea during the Vietnam War. He retired from Philip Morris in Richmond after having worked there for 30 years. Sam enjoyed classic cars and owned quite a few over the years, whether a Ford or Chevy. He enjoyed racing slot cars, making diecast models, and other model cars.
After moving to Louisa, Sam really enjoyed retirement. He loved to sit on the front porch and watch the wild animals come through the yard. Sam did not hunt, but during hunting season he enjoyed hearing stories from the hunters he met and sharing a story with them once in a while. Sam’s other favorite pastimes included playing World of Warcraft on his computer and monthly Sunday family get-togethers. He did not want anyone to be sad at his passing. As he told his wife, Diana, “I know your brother is keeping a light on for me.”
Per Sam’s request, there will not be a viewing or memorial service.
RIPARADISE
I hope he is in a paradise. I’m sorry I never met you.
In my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you on behalf of the family.
