Will miss so many things about Sandra. Her amazing ability to plan and organize a party, take care of her family and friends, keep a absolutely spotless home and be a faithful friend. Her smile will always be with me, it was her beautiful spirit inside and out. RIP
Today, I believe with all of my heart Sandra is celebrating her new heavenly life with the Lord. My family moved to Newport News in the mid 1970’s when my dad was stationed at Fort Eustis. Sam Stokes became my best friend. He introduced me to his wonderful mom Sister Eley as we called her, Bishop Eley, Sandra, Pat, Jackie, Melanie and the family. The house on Johnson Lane was always filled with love, music and good food! Rarely a week went by that we were not on the road to a church revival in NC or VA. All of us crammed in that apple red Chrysler Catalina. At the revivals or quartet group shows, men would swoon over her like she was a goddess! ” Man. Go sit your old butt down.” I would say ” She don’t want you.” Everyone will testify she was gorgeous! Always positive, fun and joyful. I spoke with her by phone a few years ago. I was saddened to hear she was sick. But she was hopeful. The ole saying ” Cancer Sucks.” Yep. It does! I can still hear her voice. I can still hear her laugh. May the Lord rest your sweet, wonderful soul dear sister. No more pain.Just rest. Mark Rawlison, Newport News, VA
