Shawn Michael Clark

September 3, 2003 – February 11, 2024

Shawn Michael Clark, 20,  of Chesterfield, VA passed away on February 11, 2024. He was born September 3, 2003.  Shawn was a 2021 graduate of Monacan High School.

Survivors include his father Michael Clark Jr. of Colonial Heights, VA; his mother, Phaedra Clark of Chesterfield, VA; and his three sisters C’Aira, Megan, and Daniella Clark also of Chesterfield.  Shawn is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Susan Phillips of Dudley NC; aunts and uncles, Crispin and Jodi Poh of Midlothian, VA; Daniel (JD) and Kira Jenkins of Midlothian, VA, and Melissa Clark of  Goldsboro, NC, Daymar, Lucy, and Keiton Poh who were his Aunt and Uncles but were more like his brothers and sisters as they grew up together in an extended family home along with his maternal grandparents, Vincent (Grumpus) and Cecelia (Geema) Poh who survive him as well.  Shawn also leaves behind many cousins, Perrin and Dryden Jenkins (whom he protected and loved dearly), Haley (Jo), Samantha (Sam), Brianna (Bri), and Julian (Jules) Poh.  He loved all his sisters, brothers, and cousins.  Shawn is preceded in death by his partneral grandfather Michael Clark of Texas.

During the summer you could find Shawn smiling with his family at the Big Red House in Ocean Isle, at the community pool, or on the boat at Lake Anna.  We know Shawn is reliving the trip of a lifetime that he took with Grumpus on his motorcycle across the country when he was 14 years old. We know the memories those two made on that trip would last him more than a lifetime.

Shawn became interested in cooking and loved seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they were enjoying something he cooked. He was looking forward to getting a job in a restaurant so that he could keep learning and building on what Chef taught him at Big Meadows Lodge on Skyline Drive.  We believe his true love of the mountains grew during his time working under Chef in the mountains.

His smile was contagious and he loved his family deeply.  He was kind and thoughtful and was always asking his Geema “if she was ok”.  His manners were impeccable and he showed respect to everyone he met.  Shawn will be missed greatly by his mother and father and of course all of his family and friends.

The family will hold a memorial gathering from 4 pm to 6 pm on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Affinity Funeral Service  2720 Enterprise Parkway Richmond, VA 23294.   Friends and family are invited back to the home of Crispin and Jodi Poh after the memorial to celebrate Shawn’s life.
