In Loving

Sonya Turner Heath

September 20, 1936 – May 25, 2024

Sonya Turner Heath, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

Sonya was a devout Christian with a beautiful soul who was a lifelong choir member and provided love, support, and care to everyone she touched. She had a way of making many generations of family and friends know they were loved and she in turn was loved and cherished by them all. A creative person, she was a skilled seamstress and the co-owner of Jermie’s Needlepoint and Linens for many years before retiring. Sonya’s needlepoint and finishing skills reached many in the Richmond area. She was a talented perfectionist and admired by many. An avid gardener, Sonya’s passion was tending to her many flowers, trees. and vegetables. With shovel in hand, Sonya might say,“ the best place to seek God is in a garden.”

Sonya was preceded in death by her parents, Arny Andrew Turner and Sally W. Turner; one brother, Arny Andrew Turner, Jr. (Ann); and one sister, Shirley Turner Schweitzer. She is survived by two sons, William Scott Heath and Raymond Glenn Heath (Sharon); grandson, William Clinton Heath (fiancé, Stephanie);
granddaughter, Sonya Kristen Laura Heath; several nieces and nephews; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law Jack Schweitzer.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4 at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.
