Tamara Stanley Ambrose, 61, of Richmond passed away Monday, November 7, 2022.
Tamara was predeceased by her mother, Ruth; and her brothers, Brett and Todd. Tamara is survived by her devoted husband, Andy; three children, Chelsea, Grady, and Riley; her father, Mortimer Stanley; and brother, Myles Stanley; mother-in-law, Georgene Ambrose; and brother-in-law Paul Ambrose.
Tami asked that her obituary be short- a welcome request because words are puny instruments for measuring humanity at its best. Briefly, here she is; Tami: charming, kind, loyal, brave, resilient, optimistic, wise, loving, generous, snappy, stylish, empathetic, encouraging, and hilarious.
Tami was an attentive listener, loving daughter, wife, mother, friend, sister, grateful taster of life’s simple pleasures, educator, and lifelong reader, learner, and nature lover. She was beloved by her children, adored by her husband, taken before her time, and will be truly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. The family will receive friends following the service until 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Doctors Without Borders.
Tami was the best of the best. Andy, Chelsea, Grady, and Riley, my heart is with you now and always. Tami always treated me like a daughter and I’ll never forget the love she showed to those around her. She was hilarious, sharp, and witty; always making everyone laugh. I see her face in her children and know how proud she was of her family. Although her time was cut short I hope you find strength in knowing how much she was loved.

How very sad I am to hear of the passing of a dear colleague. I worked with her right before her retirement, but her effervescence was that of a first year teacher. I don’t doubt that she inspired thousands.
I was only an acquaintance from her years at Community Bible Study but I’m grateful for the light her neverending smile poured into my life! I’m so sorry for your loss keeping each of you in prayer for the comfort that only God can give as you grieve your great loss in the months ahead.

My sister Tami was a beautiful strong independent and funny woman that lived an incredibly wonderful life that she created using her smarts, skills and determination. Tami will live on through our memories and her beautiful family that are a reflection of the kind and caring type of person that Tami was. While we will miss her terribly we can celebrate her life knowing that Tami recognized her need for a savior and trusted in our Lord Jesus for her salvation and we will be together with her in Eternity.
So sorry to hear about the loss of Tami. I worked with her at Holman middle school and she was always witty, laughing and easy to be with. I love her picture and she will be remembered fondly.
