Tamika Shantel Smith

Aug. 15, 1976 – Jul. 26, 2020

Tamika Shantel Smith was called to her eternal rest on Sunday, July 26, 2020. She was born August 15, 1976, to Ruth and Harry Smith.  At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Sharon Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia where she was an active member in numerous organizations. Later, she re-committed her life to Christ at Greater Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia.

Known as “Shan” and “Spud” – she graduated from Highland Springs High School where she excelled in basketball and softball, receiving numerous recognitions for her athletic skills. A very dedicated, high-spirited person where she lit up a space with love and laughter whenever she walked into a room. She had a passion for helping others. This was exemplified by serving people through community outreach.

Cherishing her memory are her mother, Ruth Smith; father, Harry Smith (Delores); three daughters, Tiana, Auntey and Jade; three sisters, Yovanda “Nikki” Britt (Kenya); Harika Anderson, Angie Green: one brother, Jermaine Woolridge; Aunts, Janice Hives, Lillian Friday (Michael), Emma Washington (Norman), Gloria Roberts (Cain), and, Elizabeth Jones; Uncle, Marvin Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; Devoted friend, Ebonie Desilva, and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Affinity Funeral Service Richmond Chapel, 2720 Enterprise Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the chapel. Interment will be private.
