Thomas Fletcher Johnson, 67, of Richmond passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA.
Thomas Fletcher Johnson (Tommy as he was known) was born to Araminta Branch and James T Johnson on June 4, 1955. Thomas was the oldest of 12 children. Most of his childhood life he was raised in the Church of God Christ under the leadership of Bishop Moss.
Thomas attended Richmond Public Schools where he also attended George Wythe High School.
Thomas was a skilled painter and loved working on cars. He spent the majority of his adult life working for Pearson Hyundai as well as Sam’s Club until he began his dialysis treatment, in which he was forced to stop doing the things he loved the most. Tommy loved working on cars, painting, doing yard work, and most of all taking Terrell to Putt Putt golf. He loved life and always found a way to smile.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Araminta and James Johnson; his brothers, Bruno and Wayne Baucum, Timothy and Reginald Johnson; and his sisters, Machelle Johnson and Helen Hawkins; and his devoted companion Wilhelmina Hagood.
Thomas is survived by his beloved daughter, Lynette Lee (mother Alice “Pat” Wright); his son, Terrell Hagood; his grandchildren, De’Ron and D’Andre Lee; and a stepson, Lamont Hagood. Thomas is also survived by his sisters, Linda Brown (Alan), Cassandra Stevens (Boris), Cynthia Callahan (Donnell), Roger Bauman (Sheila), Carl Johnson, Sr. (Janice), Maverick, Eugene, and Herbert Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Friday, September 9, 2022, with a funeral service to follow at 12:30 pm at Affinity Funeral Service – Richmond Chapel, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens.
