Thomas James “TJ” Matousek

March 10, 1971 – February 22, 2024

Thomas James “TJ” Matousek, known as TJ, 52 years old, of Midlothian, VA, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, February 22. 2024 at Chippenham Hospital.

TJ was survived by his wife, Svyatoslva, his parents; his four brothers, John, Michael, James, and Sean; and his sister, Heather.

TJ was born on March 10, 1971, to Kathryn Hatt and John Matousek. He met his beloved Slava in the Spring of 2011 and found a love most people only aspire to experience in a lifetime. They shared the same hobbies and taste of music.  He was very outgoing and the kind of guy who could strike up a conversation as if he always knew you. His sarcasm, humor, and witty personality couldn’t help but make you smile and leave a lasting impression on him. He was loved by family and friends, and his nieces and nephews were very fond of him. He was also a loving family oriented man and willing to lend a hand.

TJ was an avid lover of winter sports, a diehard Eagles fan, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was known as a cheesesteak connoisseur and Stromboli critic. He was the life of the party but did not hold back in his straightforwardness. TJ loved his music; his favorite bands were Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Iron Madden.

TJ  attended the Philadelphia Art Institute for Photography, which he kept as a long life hobby. Professionally he worked and learned all aspects of the roofing profession, which led him to the position of Project Manager of a Roofing company.

During his lifetime, he expressed that when he passed he did not want tears or sadness, but instead, he wanted his life to be celebrated and memories of good times.

A memorial gathering will be held for  family and friends from 5 to7 p.m. on Friday, March 8 at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Parkway Richmond, VA 23294.
