Thomas Reaves Morgan

March 10, 1945 – May 31, 2023

Thomas Reaves Morgan, 78, a lifelong resident of Richmond, departed this life on May 31, 2023, at VCU after a brief hospital stay.
Tom graduated from John Marshall High School and Va Tech and spent some time in the US Navy in flight training in Pensacola. Although he majored in Economics he had the mind of an engineer and he could fix anything and everything. He taught himself to program on an old desktop pre-Windows to create software which would automate his equipment leasing business.
He was a family man and a loyal friend to many, and he loved the Lord Jesus Christ. He spent many hours studying God’s Word and had a small group of men who met with him weekly for years to study the Bible together.  He served as an Elder at Third Church and he will be missed.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary; his four children, Sara (JD), Ben (Whitney), Betsy (Chris), and Jesse (Rachel); grandchildren, Samantha, Emmy, and Thomas and one more on the way; brothers, Jesse A Morgan (Edna) and James W Morgan (Martha); nephews, Wes, Matt, and Chris and their families; and some cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and his big sister, Ginger, with whom he was always close.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 9 at Ginter Park Presbyterian Church, 3601 Seminary Ave, 23227.  Donations may be made to Third Church Renew Campaign, 500 Forest Avenue, Henrico 23229 or STEP at steprichmond.org.
