Obituary message
Valerie Ashley was born in Brooklyn,NY and raised in Flushing, Queens, she moved to Richmond VA in 1989. She is preceded in death by her parents Ida & Joseph Tedesco and younger brother Joseph. Valerie leaves behind her son Keith, daughter in law Shannon & three beloved granddaughters Madison, Kayla and Suzie. She also leaves behind her sister Elvira, cousin Patti and other beloved family members. Ms. Ashley worked in education for over 40 years and for the last 27 years worked at Forest Hill Presbyterian Child Care Center as well as Good Shepherd Episcopal Church as a child care minder. A lover of history,and music, Ms Ashley supported the New York Mets, Virginia Tech Hokies and professional wrestling. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and touched many lives as an educator for four decades. Services will be held at Good Sheppard Episcopal Church at a date TBA

Holding Keith and his family in light during this difficult time. Our prayers are with them. Valerie was a warm and kind woman who loved her family beyond measure. She dedicated many hours to her community in various service roles and she will be greatly missed.
