Vickie Martin Howell
April 3, 1956 – May 28, 2020
Vickie Martin Howell, 64, of Henrico County passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020. She loved spending time with her family, working in her children’s schools, and serving in her church. Vickie especially enjoyed Vacation Bible School and was proud to have served in 43 Bible Schools at different churches. She was a member of Ridge Baptist Church. Vickie is survived by her husband of 41 years, David; and her children, Diana and Jason. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 1 at Affinity Funeral Service – Richmond Chapel, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2 at Ridge Baptist Church. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Vickie requested that instead of surrounding her casket with flowers to surround it with school supplies which will be given to area school children through the ministries at Ridge. Memorial donations may be made to the Ridge Baptist Church Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Fund.
Vickie’s passion for VBS and Children’s ministry was infectious. She made balancing her family, church life, ministry and dedication as a servant to the Lord look easy and was a true inspiration. Instead of having 2 arms, it seemed like she had at least 8 so she could fit one more accomplishment into her day. I will miss her hearty laugh and unique sense of humor. I’m sure she has touched the heart of everyone she has met. To David, Diana and Jason, I am sending prayers for comfort, healing and fond memories… Love and miss you guys…Sue
I have thought of you many times through the years and only found you when I heard of your death. You have been missed many times through the years. I will think of you often in years to come.
It is two years and 1 day since Vickie’s funeral. I just found this obituary. I dreamed about David last night and so I looked David and Vickie up. I have prayed for you today, David. This week has probably been a difficult one for you and Diana and Jason. I pray comfort, peace, and good health for all of you.
I was thinking today of Homer and I having David and Vickie in our home in Bridgewater, Va. and going to visit them in their next church in Goochland.
Vickie was faithful. Homer was too. I wonder if they have met up with each other in heaven yet. Homer passed away March 6, 2015.
God Bless you and your family, David.
In Jesus’ love. Linda Austin
