William “Bill” Thomas Journey Sr.
March 31, 1943-August 27, 2020
JOURNEY, William “Bill” Thomas Sr., 77, of Henrico County passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020. Bill was a lot of things to a lot of people. He was family, friend, coach, food broker, a voluminous source of knowledge and humor, and so much more. Bill will be thought of at many a golf course or round table discussion of sports trivia. For those still teeing it up or enjoying a good meal, the question is, how many of Stan Musical’s 3,630 hits were at home and how many were on the road? The answer, boys and girls, is 1,815 at home and 1,815 on the road, proving that “Stan The Man,” just like my “Old Man,” was as solid at home as he was on the road. His “old school” wisdom and philosophy surely will be missed. Funeral services will be private.
Brian,
You know we loved Bill almost as much as you did!
We are here for you anytime you want!
We love you!
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT OF MY FAMILY OVER THE PAST 34 YEARS AND IN THE FUTURE. I KNOW YOU ALL HAD A GREAT RELATIONSHIP FULL OF MUTUAL LOVE AND RESPECT. YOUR PRESENCE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Brian,
Never has an obit more aptly described a man, a father and my special friend than this one. Since 1965, we have enjoyed reminiscing our baseball days, playing golf together, solving the world’s problems and ragging on each other. Lynn and I shall miss him greatly.
THANK YOU JIM AND LYNN. JIM DO NOT WORRY THE RAGGING WILL CONTINUE. LYNN,I TRUST THE PLUMBING SKILLS ARE STILL BEING HONED. AS MY DAD WOULD SAY, “ALL THE QUESTIONS ARE EASY, IF YOU KNOW THE ANSWER”.
WITH LOVE, BRIAN.

Brian, I was shocked and saddened by seeing your Dad’s obituary in today’s paper. As cousins close in age, I have so many childhood memories of spending time with him, Linda, Tom and Marie. And I always enjoyed seeing Billy when our paths crossed as adults. I know the pain of losing both parents in a short time period, but pray that good memories of the love they showed will comfort you in your time of sorrow. God bless you and your family.

I will always remember Mr. Journey as truly a kind soul, always in a good mood and carrying a big, warm, inviting smile. The Reid family and Journey family had some great times together, many centered around Tuckahoe Little League.
Brian, we’ll miss him but will always remember him!
ROB AND FAMILY, THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS. THEY DESCRIBE HIM WELL. THE REID NAME CAME UP IN MANY OF OUR DISCUSSIONS OF BASEBALL. MY DAD THOUGHT HIGHLY OF YOU, LUKE AND YOUR FAMILY,NOT ONLY AS ATHLETES,BUT AS PEOPLE TOO. HE WILL BE MISSED AND REMEMBERED, THERE ARE PLENTY MEMORIES OF THE INTERACTION OF THE REID AND JOURNEY FAMILIES TO ACCOMPLISH THIS WITH SMILES.

Joe
JOE, THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENT. I DID NOT HAVE THE PLEASURE OF THE JOE’S BREAKFAST/LUNCH GATHERINGS. HOWEVER, I DID HEAR THE SUMMARIES OF THE GOOD CONVERSATION THERE.I DO KNOW THAT IT WAS AN EXPERIENCE VERY MUCH ENJOYED BY MY DAD.
WITH LOVE, BRIAN.
Brian and family,
I was shocked to hear that your dad had died so suddenly. Just a few months ago we had a delightful lunch and conversation and reminisced about our previous lives when Basil and Joyce were still with us… The parties, the cruises, the golf, conversations, dinners, and always talk about sports and books. Your dad spoke so highly about you and the good times you shared playing golf and hanging out with your beautiful daughter. He showed me pictures, obviously a proud dad and granddad. Bill was so helpful to us when Basil became sick with cancer nine years ago. He was definitely one of the great ones and will be sorely missed. Cherish the memories, Brian. You have so many, I know. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
Joanne Tripp
JOANNE, THANK YOU FOR SUPPORT AND PRAYERS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS THAT MAKE ME SMILE. SO MANY HAVE GONE BEFORE US. CHERISHING THE MEMORIES AND THE PEOPLE INVOLVED DOES HELP TO SMOOTH OUT THE BUMPS ALONG THE ROAD OF LIFE.

Brian I am still in shock over the passing of your father Bill or “Sweet ” as I called him . I will miss him so much. We were close friends for over 50 years, working together for two different companies. He was good at work and good at play, especially golf. We were playing partners at Richmond Country for years and won far more matches than we lost. That was because I had a good partner, ” Sweet” could play. He was even better as a friend. When I had some health problems he was there for me , giving me rides to the doctors, and he would come and keep me company while I was taking hours of chemo. Not a great place for a social gathering but It was nice having him with me and it kept my spirits up. They don’t make them any better than Bill Journey. I will miss him and his phone messages about where we were going to eat lunch. His message would start like this , Frank , this is” Sweet” we are : Moosing” it today, hope you can make it. Brian my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family, I know you miss him so much. Your fathers obituary was outstanding and
perfect for Bill as he was truly an outstanding man and friend.
FATHER FRANK, THANK YOU FOR YOUR ONGOING SUPPORT, THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS,AND POSITIVE FEEDBACK. IF YOU COULD PICK YOUR PARTNER HE WAS A GOOD ONE TO CHOOSE. I KNOW YOU SUPPORTED ONE ANOTHER IN MANY ENDEAVORS. I KNOW YOU SHARED A LONG LASTING RELATIONSHIP WITH MY FATHER AND THAT HE WAS THANKFUL FOR THAT RELATIONSHIP, SEE YOU AT THE MOOSE AND MYRTLE.
WITH LOVE, LITTLE JOURNEY.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
