
William McArthur Thornburg Sr.

William McArthur Thornburg, Sr. 77, of Mechanicsville passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 at his home.
Bill raised seven children, served in the United States Marines, founded Air Progress flying school and Centurion Properties real estate firm. His love and care for family was always first and this will never be forgotten.
Bill is preceded in death by his son, Lesley (Lex) Thornburg and Bill’s siblings, Robert, Marvin, Keak, Violin and Charles. He is survived by his devoted wife, JoAn, and his daughters Debbie Thornburg Webb (Jim); Jennifer Thornburg, Georgie, Maria and Pepper. He is also survived by his son William Thornburg, Jr (Margie); seven grandchildren: Brooke, Emilee, Blakelee, Reid (Kathleen), Waylon, Abel and Gabriel and one great grandchild, Madison; nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4pm on Friday, November 6 at Affinity Funeral Service Richmond Chapel, 2720 Enterprise Parkway, Richmond, Va. 23294 with a memorial service to follow at 4pm. Interment will be private.

Wanted to say, I just heard Bill had passed and your father was such a personable guy,, he helped me buy and sell several homes and became my friend in the process. I’ll be saying some extra fervent prayers for you guys this week.. I’m sorry about your loss, he was a kind man.

I owe so much to Dad for his positive influence though out my life. It never stopped. I thank God for granting me this honor and privilege. One of my favorite childhood memories: looking up at him singing in church. I trust that my earthly father is now with my Heavenly Father and we will meet again. Love forever, Bill, Jr.

I always admired the love between JoAn and Bill. Bill would smile proudly when talking about or looking at his lovely wife. His entire family was so important to him. He fought valiantly to stay here with you. He will always be with you all in Spirit.
Rest in Peace my Realtor and Friend Bill! I’ll be asking Adonai to hold you close until we meet again. You would be happy to know I started late also and now have a 2 year old baby girl, Faith. Faith in our Lord and all his promises. You’re a good man Bill.. I’ll miss you… ) ;
