Dear Cousins, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to of you and especially to Betty, and I grieve with you. For those who don’t know, Billy was my first-cousin. My mother, Mary (Kennedy) Rose and his mother, Peggy (Kennedy) McReynolds were sisters. Love to all of you, Ginger Rose Senter
Billy was my youngest Brother and I always gave him a rough time when we were growing up. Our parents were James Ford and Maggie Kennedy McReynolds. Billy was saved at about the age of 9 and I was saved at 11 years old. We were baptized together at Lions Fork creek by Reverend Osgood. We attended Rugby Freewill Baptist Church, Caney Ridge, Virginia; our Pastor was Enoch Rose. Billy was a tender hearted young man and always looked out for younger children at our school. He was always industrious and worked around the neighborhood such as carrying coal, chopping wood, etc. You have heard the song, “I did it my way”. That was Billy. Later in high school Billy met is heart-throb and he and Betty Jean Deal were married at Uncle Maston and Aunt Mary’s house by Uncle Maston Rose with James Orie McReynolds then about 3 years old standing by his Uncle Billy’s side. Billy worked hard and so did Betty for their 4 wonderful children and God has truly blessed them. My prayers are for Betty and their whole family. I want to thank William, Annette, Pat and Brian for the wonderful reunion that was held at Fairfax Hall, Waynesboro, Va. when their Dad could enjoy seeing his family and friends as the Doctors treating Billy for bladder cancer had told him he had about 3 months to live. As Christians we prayed “thy will be done. Billy fought a good fight and he won the race on October 9th. Praise be to God who is our Saviour, deliverer and is soon returning for all who are ready when He calls, Billy did not complain or get depressed he maintained that God was in control and died with God”s grace and mercy knowing where he was going. I know Mother was waiting to see her boy and James O. is probably standing by his Uncle Billy’s side along with his Mother Hazel. I have a solo ministry at my church and I sometimes sing the song titled “I’ve Got More To Go To Heaven For Than I Did Yesterday” and I know we who have asked Jesus to be our Saviour and follow God’s Word (the BIBLE) will be there ourselves what a Saviour that would John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Again my prayers are for Betty who stayed right by Billy’s side and she now needs to take of herself. Love to all from Aunt Jenny and Uncle Jimmy Lee.
