“Big Bake” my New Jersey Homeboy, you made it your business to look out for all of the Jersey people at Virginia Union University. We worked together at the Old VA State Pen and you lived above me on Chambrelayne avenue and every Friday you would come down and we would sit for hours eating mangos and talking. Saying you will be missed goes without question and words cannot describe the sense of loss that I am feeling. My prayer of comfort goes out to your family and I want to thank them for sharing you with us. Rest well my brother and I will see you on the other side!
Yesterday I lost a college friend, when you go away to college and everything is new and there is an adjustment period. Willie (Big Bake ) Baker was that big brother who showed you the ropes of being a college student and have fun doing it. When my dad died it was Bake who pick me up at Byrd Airport and said Bro I got you. The Inner City Blues squad will always remember my brother .
Don’t think of him as gone away
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.
