STRAIT, Diane, 53, of Richmond, originally from Morton Grove, IL, passed into glory on Monday, November 26, 2018. Her greatest joys were knowing Jesus Christ, her Savior and Lord, and loving her family, friends and neighbors, including her four children and two grandchildren. Diane graduated from Northwestern University and received her master’s in teaching from National College of Education and a professional endorsement in library media from Longwood College. Most recently, she was an elementary school librarian with Henrico County Public Schools at Springfield Park Elementary School. Diane was a member of West End Presbyterian Church, where she participated in the women’s fellowship Restore and the after-school tutoring program. Her passion was to introduce children, and adults, to great children’s literature. Diane was often heard to say that no one is too old to be read aloud to. Survivors include her husband, Karl Strait; son, Daniel Strait and wife Veronica “Roni” of Richmond and their children, Ruby and Jett; son, Andrew Strait and wife Danielle “Dani” of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Kathryn Strait and son, Joseph Strait of Richmond, VA; parents, Lawrence and Jacquolyn Weick of Pocahontas, AR; brothers, Mark Weick and wife Lee of Midland, MI, Dave Weick and wife Marybeth of Pocahontas, AR, and Craig Weick and wife Stacy of Libertyville, IL; mother-in-law, Lucille Strait of Del City, OK; brother-in-law, Mark Strait and wife Sally of Waterford, MI; and 19 nieces and nephews. A worship service and celebration of life will be held at Noon Saturday, December 1st, at West End Presbyterian Church (WEPC), 9008 Quioccasin Rd, Richmond, VA. The family will receive friends for fellowship and food following the service in the WEPC Fellowship Hall. Memorial gifts may be made to the WEPC Mercy Ministry (Deacon’s Fund), which seeks to bring glory to God through addressing the physical and worldly needs of those in the WEPC family and the surrounding community in a biblically sound, compassionate, wise and effective manner. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalm 116:15.

Celebrating the life of Diane Jacquolyn Strait
Thank you for signing Diane Jacquolyn Strait's Guestbook
I met Diane through Beth Grinnan, dear mutual friends. We talked about books, teaching, and loving the Lord. We even had conversations at Ridgetop when we weren’t reading good children’s books! Diane was a kind, encouraging, Godly woman! I know she’ll be missed dearly until meeting loved ones in Heaven.

I experienced Diane's wisdom when participating in the Women's Ministry at WEPC. I especially appreciated her honesty and transparency when serving as a leader for the Wed. nights Women's program(s). My heart aches for her family and friends. Heaven's gain is certainly our loss. Her family and close friends will remain in my prayers in the days ahead.

It was when Daniel Strait and Veronica Busan decided to get married that I first met Diane. We talked like we were old college girlfriends, as if we had known each other for years. My time with Diane was way too short. Her kind, welcoming and loving spirit will be sorely missed.
